Taipalsaari, Finland 29.9.2026 - Nordi, a Finnish renewable energy developer, has completed the sale of a ready-to-build battery energy storage system (BESS) project to Enlight, a leading global renewable energy company. The standalone energy storage project is located in Kristinestad, on Finland’s west coast, and has a planned capacity of up to 125 MW / 500 MWh.

Located next to Fingrid’s Kristinestad substation, the project has secured a long-term land lease with the City of Kristinestad and obtained a building permit and a permit for the grid connection cable. The project has secured the connection capacity through a grid connection agreement with Fingrid.

The BESS is expected to be operational in Q1 2028, where it will look to provide flexibility and balancing services to Finland’s power system and support the integration of renewable generation.

For Enlight, the transaction represents another step in building its energy storage portfolio in Finland. Upon completion, the acquisition will add another large-scale, ready-to-build project to its Finnish portfolio, strengthening the company’s presence in the country and supporting its continued expansion across Europe.
